How are adults and children treated differently in orthodontics? If children do not reach 100% sutural growth within the facial skeleton until around age 20 and can be treated to allow for sutural modification, how is a 40 year old person treated orthodontically and can a maximal outcome be achieved?
Since there is a continual skeletal growth, how effective is it to perform orthodontic treatment on children with primary dentition or mixed dentition? Should they be treated until they do not grow anymore? Is the permanent dentition going to be ideal or will they need to have to wear retainers and have regular orthodontic check-up?
